Cashless health insurance of up to Rs. 5 lakh is being provided to every family covered under this scheme.

According to a figure, about 50 crore people, including 10 crore BPL holding families, are headed towards the direct benefit of the scheme. Apart from this, there is a plan to bring the remaining population under this scheme.



Ayushman Bharat Yojana was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 14 April 2018 on the birth anniversary of Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar from Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. Whereas Antyodaya dreamer Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay's birth date has been implemented across the country by Prime Minister Modi from 25 September 2018.

The scheme comprises two major elements: One, under the National Health Protection Scheme, which has now been transformed into the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, the government is covering around 50 crore beneficiaries from 10 crore poor and vulnerable families. It provides coverage for hospital care at the secondary and tertiary level for every family, for a value of Rs 5 lakh per year.



The Ayushman Bharat Health Scheme of the Central Government (Prime Minister Jan Arogya Yojana i.e. PM-JAY) was launched on Sunday. By this, the poor people of the country will also get the facility of getting treatment in big hospitals. PM-JAY is actually a health insurance scheme introduced by the Government of India.
